UFC 289 went abroad on Saturday, with the event taking place at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. One of the main card fights was between Mike Mallott and Adam Fugitt. Walkouts of the two fighters were taking place before a scary moment took place.

Mallott was getting ready to walk to the Octagon and began heading that way. As usual, fans were leaning over to give out high fives and offer their support. That was until one of the railings collapsed and saw fans spilling over. A significant amount of people were suddenly on the ground after a decent size fall.

Luckily for Mallott he had already walked past and was not harmed. There were people lingering behind him though, including the fighter’s crew and some cameramen. Thankfully, nobody looked too seriously injured and everyone was able to compose themselves after a moment or two.

A scary situation for sure but everyone involved does not seem too banged up. You can watch the full moment down below.

This is something similar to a moment we saw in the NFL when Jalen Hurts was walking down the tunnel at FedEx Field. Following the Eagles’ win over the Washington Commanders, fans were looking for a quick interaction with the quarterback. They too spilled out of the stands and were unharmed.

However, it’s probably fair to say Rogers Arena is in way better condition than FedEx Field. Washington has had problems for years with the stadium and that moment was not a surprising one. This one is a little concerning for the UFC, even if everything turned out okay.

As for the Mallott fight itself, he wound up being the winner. He is just one of the many Canadians who are enjoying a successful evening in their home country. In what was a second-round submission, Mallott was dominant in his fight against Fugitt.

You can watch the winning moment from Mallott here, earning the fight-winning submission of Fugitt through a guillotine choke.

With the main event now underway, Rogers Arena has not had any more problems with fans in the stand. It’s never good to have people spilling into a dangerous area. Someone, either from the stands or walking toward the octagon, could have gotten seriously injured.

Thankfully, everyone is okay and the event was able to continue as normal. An overall great night for Vancouver, getting to see some great fights in their city.
