Among the medal opportunities for Team USA on Sunday, the Americans struck gold in fencing with a unique feat. Former Notre Dame fencing star Lee Keifer made history on Sunday in Paris with her 15-6 victory over fellow American Lauren Scruggs in the women’s individual foil fencing finals.

She took home her second straight gold medal in the event, becoming the first U.S. woman to win gold in the event twice.

The other gold medal on the day came in the pool.

Stanford swimmer Torri Huske won the gold medal, edging out her teammate and Virginia standout Gretchen Walsh by 0.04 seconds. Walsh took the silver medal, adding to Team USA’s count.

That came one day after the duo captured silver in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay, giving the duo two medals apiece so far and greatly adding to the medal count for the United States.

The third and final gold medal for the United States so far came in the pool on Saturday evening, when the men’s 4×100-meter freestyle relay team anchored by Caeleb Dressel took home the gold.

Dressel claimed his eighth Olympic medal with the win, all gold. He’ll look to continue his dominance in the pool the rest of the way.

The former Florida star was one of the real standouts in the Tokyo Olympic Games four years ago, claiming five gold medals. He won gold in the 4×100 freestyle, the 4×100 medley, the 50 freestyle, the 100 freestyle and the 100 butterfly.

Team USA will certainly be hoping the dominance in the pool continues as they try to chase down Japan and Australia for the top medal count.
