Utah Jazz select Cody Williams in 2024 NBA Draft
Following an impressive freshman season at Colorado, forward Cody Williams is ready to take his talents to the NBA. His pro career will begin with the Utah Jazz, who selected him with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.
Williams averaged 11.9 points per game to rank third on the Buffaloes this past season while shooting 55.2% from the floor and 41.5% from 3-point range. He also put up 3.0 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game in helping Colorado reach the NCAA Tournament.
The 6-foot-8, 180-pound forward helped take the Buffaloes to the second round before falling to No. 2 seed Marquette. He finished that game with 12 points and two blocks on 5-of-10 shooting. Williams’ best game of the season came on Jan. 18 against Oregon, when he scored 23 points including 3-of-4 from long range.
Williams attended Perry (AZ) High School, where he was a five-star prospect. He ranked as the No. 6 overall prospect and No. 4 small forward in the 2023 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Cody Williams is not the first member of his family to reach the NBA. His older brother, Jalen Williams, was the No. 12 pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2022. Now Cody Williams will join him as he looks to carry over his strong college performance into the pros.

What NBA Draft analyst are saying about Cody Williams
On3‘s James Fletcher offered some analysis on Williams’ game in his recent article ranking the top 40 NBA Draft prospect. He noted that injuries slowed down the forward from truly reaching his full potential this past season as his playing time dwindled to finish the year.
That said, he should still have a chance to make an impact at the next level with his size and the efficient shooting numbers he displayed.
“Cody Williams, brother of Oklahoma City Thunder standout Jalen Williams, came into the season as the No. 1 ranked freshman in the On3 recruiting rankings,” Fletcher wrote. “Injuries slowed down his season, which lacked the consistency many hoped to see. The 6-foot-8 wing shot 55.2% from the field and 41.5% from 3, but ended the season coming off the bench for Colorado as veterans took on the bulk of the important minutes.
“Williams has also held steady throughout most of the pre-draft process to this point in terms of perception and stock.”
