Vikings sign former first-round WR N'Keal Harry
The Minnesota Vikings have added a new receiver to the roster. The team announced on Sunday that it has signed former first-round pick N’Keal Harry following a tryout at the Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center.
Minnesota also announced that it has placed defensive lineman James Lynch on Injured Reserve. He suffered a knee injury during training camp.
Harry enters his fifth year in the NFL in 2023. He spent the first three seasons with the New England Patriots after the team drafted him with the No. 32 overall pick in 2019. The Arizona State product spent last season with the Chicago Bears.
Despite his first-round status, Harry has yet to really find his footing in the NFL. Over the first four seasons, he’s totaled 64 receptions for 714 yards and five touchdowns. His most productive year came with New England in 2020.
That season, the former Sun Devil hauled in 33 passes for 309 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He’s totaled fewer than 200 yards in each of the other three NFL seasons.
In seven games with the Bears last year, Harry had seven receptions on nine targets for 116 yards. He had one touchdown grab, as well.
The Vikings announced the news a few days prior to their first preseason contest of 2023. Minnesota opens the year on Thursday, Aug. 10 against the Seattle Seahawks. The game airs on NFL Network at 10 p.m. ET.

N’Keal Harry was a two-time All-Pac-12 player
Many thought Harry would be a big hit in the NFL because of his success at Arizona State. He posted huge numbers in each of his last two seasons with the Sun Devils.
He piled up 1,142 yards and eight touchdowns on 82 receptions for the Sun Devils in 2017. At the end of the year, he earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors.
Harry followed up his sophomore campaign with a brilliant run in 2018, as well. The receiver caught 73 passes for 1,088 yards and nine touchdowns. He also accounted for a rushing touchdown. Once again, he was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection.
When his days in college concluded, Harry left Arizona State with 213 catches, 2,889 yards and 22 touchdown grabs. He also accounted for 144 yards on the ground and an additional three rushing touchdowns.
Can Harry do enough to earn a more permanent roster spot for the Vikings? He’ll get his chance over the next few weeks.
