Vikings star Justin Jefferson describes his alter ego 'Jets' on Netflix doc 'Receiver'
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson became the league’s highest-paid wide receiver this offseason, and not only that, he’s also the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL. The team inked him to an extension worth a whopping $140 million after he notched his fourth-straight 1,000-yard receiving season – and did it in just 10 games.
Jefferson is one of the star athletes featured in Netflix‘s newly release behind-the-scenes show, ‘Receiver.’ In the second episode, the former LSU standout describes how he uses an alter ego, who he calls “Jets,” to tap into another level and give fans what they want.
“I have Jets and I have Justin,” the wide receiver shared as he showed off his jewelry collection for the camera crew. “Justin is now, he is the cool, calm and collected. I chill, play video games, I be to myself the majority of the time. When I start putting these chains on, put the teeth in, all of the jewelry and all that, that’s when it starts to become Jets.”
‘Jets’ ready for season five with Vikings
The Vikings suffered a significant setback last season when Kirk Cousins tore his Achilles after eight games. Despite the injury to the franchise quarterback, and dealing with his own significant hamstring injury, Jefferson returned to the field as “Jets” in Week 14, and continued delivering big performances.

“Jets is the most confident,” Jefferson said. “That’s my swagger. Not cocky but he has the confidence in himself to go out and perform to the highest in the league. I like looking good while I go play.”
“Everybody around me from a young age knows who I really am and knows I’m the shy kid,” he added. “I like being to myself. I don’t really like being the center of attention. So when Jets come out on that field, it’s like the total opposite. Jets, he likes the attention. He likes showboating, he likes dancing, he likes giving the fans what they want.”
In his first four years in the league, Jefferson – as Jets – has earned three Pro Bowl nods. In 2022, the former LSU star had a career-high 1,809 receiving yards with eight touchdowns on 128 catches. The Minnesota Vikings drafted Jefferson with the No. 22 overall pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
