Brian Robinson reveals 'positive' progress in first practice since shooting, his mindset moving forward
This week, Washington Commanders rookie Brian Robinson went through his first practice since suffering two gunshot wounds to the leg this summer. The former Alabama star revealed the progress he’s made after slowly working his way back up to practicing with contact ahead of Week 5.
“My plan today was to just go out there and see what I could do. I did a little bit more than I thought I would be able to do today, so that’s positive,” Robinson said after practice. “Right now, it’s just one day at a time. Continue to make positive strides and hopefully, soon.”
Reporters asked the running back whether he’d feel comfortable playing on Sunday, to which he replied, “Just one day at a time, I couldn’t even tell you right now.”

“My mindset is no different than it’s always been,” Robinson said. “It’s not going to change, I expect to dominate as soon as I come back on the field. I don’t really want to get in too much into what’s in the past, just on what’s ahead of us and making progress with the team.”
Robinson close to debut for Washington
Late in the offseason, Robinson was shot twice during an armed robbery attempt. Prior to the shooting, he was on his way to becoming the primary ball carrier for the Washington Commanders.

After being placed on the non-football injury list and missing the first four weeks of the season, a return to the game field could be just around the corner.
The Commanders drafted Robinson with the No. 98 overall pick in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
As a fifth-year senior in 2021, Robinson rushed for 1,343 yards and 14 touchdowns to help Alabama to the national championship game — an eventual 33-18 loss to Georgia. He also got involved in the passing game, catching 35 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns.
