Jonathan Allen injury: NFL insider reveals expected injury for Commanders DT
NFL insider Tom Pelissero reports Monday that Washington Commanders defensive tackle Jonathan Allen‘s injury suffered on Sunday may be a severe one. He is feared to have a significant pectoral injury that would require season-ending surgery.
According to Pelissero, Allen is getting a second opinion regarding an injury that ruled him out in the fourth quarter of Washington’s 30-23 loss to the Baltimore Ravens this weekend. A game where he recorded two tackles and one quarterback hit before exiting the contest.
Allen is in the midst of his eighth NFL season, spending every single season of his pro career with Washington after being selected with the 17 overall pick in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Alabama. He is a two-time Pro Bowl selection who will definitely serve as a significant loss for the Commanders if he is in fact out for the season.
Through six games this season, Allen has notched 15 tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss, and six quarterback hits from his interior defensive line position. An anchor on Washington’s defensive front that’s one of the best in the NFL and has helped in leading the team to a 4-2 start to the season and a first-place ranking in the NFC East.
