Washington Commanders fire offensive coordinator Scott Turner following season end
After finishing their season 8-8-1 on the outside of the playoffs, the Washington Commanders have fired offensive coordinator Scott Turner. Turner held the position with the Commanders for the past three seasons under head coach Ron Rivera, leading an offense that ranked lower than 23rd in the league in all three seasons.

The path to the championship game is clear
With the NFL regular season drawing to an end over the weekend, the coaching carousel has begun quickly as teams make moves to set up their franchise’s offseason. Two head coaches already received their papers — with the Houston Texans firing Lovie Smith before the final NFL game of the season was over, and the Arizona Cardinals firing Kliff Kingsbury after four seasons.
Adding to the rough situation for the Commanders and their offense, Turner had a great working relationship with quarterback Taylor Heinicke during and before their time in Washington together. Heinicke played for Rivera and Turner when the coaches were on the Carolina Panthers’ staff previously, as well as playing for Turner when he began his career in Minnesota as an undrafted free agent.
