Former Alabama running back Brian Robinson Jr breaks out with first 100-yard game in NFL

The Washington Commanders’ rookie running back Brian Robinson Jr. notched his first 100-yard rushing game on Sunday in his team’s win over the Atlanta Falcons.

In the 19-13 victory, Robinson rushed for 105 yards on 18 carries. He also scored his first receiving touchdown after he caught a ball in the backfield and bowled over two Falcons defenders on the way to the endzone.

Following his recovery from a shooting in DC this summer, Robinson scored his first-ever NFL touchdown in the Commanders’ 12-7 win over the Chicago Bears on Oct. 13. He scored again on Nov. 14 as the Commanders took down Philadelphia. Washington is now 7-5 on the year, though still fourth in the NFC East, with the help of the former Alabama Crimson Tide star. They could move past the Giants in the next week with a win on the road.

After missing the first month of the season due to injuries sustained from being a victim in a car-jacking attempt and shooting, the third-round draft pick made a miraculous comeback to the Washington Commanders’ active roster earlier this season and continues to improve.

Suiting up eight times so far this year, Robinson has carried the ball 108 times for 362 yards and caught four balls for a net of seven yards, along with two touchdowns.

Robinson goes viral for ‘big hat’

After the game, Brian Robinson’s name was trending for reasons other than his 105-yard game. He donned a “big hat,” which he told reporters one of his friends makes and sells.

Although Robinson’s support of his friend and the “big hat” took the spotlight, his performance was the highlight of the night. He hadn’t rushed for 100 yards or more since Alabama’s CFP win over Cincinnati last New Year’s Eve.
