Buffalo Bills select Edefuan Ulofoshio in fifth round of 2024 NFL Draft

After starting off his college career as a preferred walk-on, Washington linebacker Edefuan Ulofoshio has now arrived to the NFL stage after being selected with the No. 160 overall pick in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills.

Ulofoshio played high school football at Bishop Gorman (TX) where he was an unrated, unranked prospect in the 2018 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

He preserved his redshirt in his first college season after playing in just three games, forcing a fumble on kickoff in what was the first play of his collegiate career. Named the Defensive Scout Squad MVP at Washington’s team banquet after forcing fumbles on each of his two tackles on the season.

Year after year Ulofoshio’s role and production would increase, earning Second-Team All-Pac-12 honors and honorable mention All-American honors from Pro Football Focus during the shortened 2020 season. Recording 47 tackles, four pass breakups, two fumble recoveries, and a sack, tackle for loss, and forced fumble apiece in four games.

Injuries riddled both his 2021 and 2022 seasons, but in 2023 he returned as a team captain and an All-Pac-12 First-Team selection after ranking second on the team in tackles. Helping lead the Huskies to a conference title win and a national championship game appearance with 94 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, four pass breakups, and an interception returned for a touchdown.

Ulofoshio found himself on All-American and All-Conference lists throughout his college career, projected as a fourth/fifth-round prospect by NFL analyst Lance Zierlein. Who believes that his resilience, skill set, and production will lead to him finding a role one way or another at the next level.

“Sixth-year player and former walk-on known for both physical and mental toughness to overcome adversity. Injuries wiped out the better part of 2021 and 2022 for him, but he came back to post his most impressive production to date,” Zierlein said. “He’s well-built and strong in his upper half. He can take on blocks or work around them but will find himself out of position due to a lack of instincts and patience. He doesn’t have great speed or short-area agility, so his margin for error is thin. He’s been a more successful tackle finisher than expected and leaves a mark when he hits. Ulofoshio’s best shot to stick around might be to shine as a core special teams member.”
