WATCH: Aaron Rodgers addresses rematch vs 49ers
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are excited to get back on the field after a two-week layoffs thanks to earning a first-round bye as the No. 1 seed in the NFC. No better way to start their postseason slate than against a team they’ve already beaten this season.
The Packers duked it out with the San Francisco 49ers on the road in week three back in September and escaped with a victory thanks to a kick-winning kick from veteran place kicker Mason Crosby from 54 yards out.
That was a long time ago, and in Rodgers eyes, that game doesn’t matter anymore.
“You know, it’s it’s all about how you’re playing and how healthy you are late in the season and those are the teams that make the runs,” Rodgers said on the Pat McAfee Show Tuesday. “The ‘9ers have been been playing really well. We played him early in the season … It was important game for us.”
The 49ers are coming off a victory over the Cowboys in dramatic fashion. They ended up flying back to California with the victory after leaving Dallas with a 23-17 win after the Cowboys ran out of time trying to attempt a game-winning drive.
For some, they call it luck, but if you ask those within the 49ers organization, they’d tell you the better team won. It seems Rodgers feels the same.

“There’s eight teams left out of 32 are still playing. It’s fun to be one of those eight, we’ve got to figure out how to be one of the four left after this weekend,” Rodgers said. “… The best for teams and NFC are still left.”
Rodgers and the Packers are looking ahead to this Saturday as they host the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Playoffs at 8:15 p.m. ET live on FOX. The winner will face either the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship game the following week with a shot at the Super Bowl on the line.
“Everybody’s got a recipe that they’ve figured out to win football games and they’re going to put it on the field on Saturday and you know, we’re going to put our recipe and see who comes out on top,” he said.
