WATCH: Dak Prescott connects with Amari Cooper for a 5-yard touchdown pass
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper was returning from an ankle injury in this offseason. On Thursday night, he looked healthy in his first action of the season for the Cowboys.
Watch below as Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott drops back to around the 14-yard line and completes a pass in the front corner of the end zone to Amari Cooper.
The touchdown pass was Prescott’s second of the first half. The score made the game 14-13 in the second quarter, but Dallas missed the extra point attempt after the touchdown. It was Cooper’s first touchdown of the season.
Cowboys’ high-octane attack
The Cowboys have one of the most potent passing attacks in the National Football League and it’s been on fine display in the season opener. Dak Prescott has Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb, and Michael Gallup to form one of the league’s most explosive passing attacks.
That’s not even mentioning Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard as pass catchers out of the backfield. There are weapons everywhere in this offense and this team will be tough to defend as long as all the major weapons stay healthy.
Amari Cooper looks healthy
Many Cowboys fans might have been concerned about the health of Cooper coming into the season. His injury history has been a source of frustration for the Cowboys’ organization and their fans.
He entered fall camp on the physically unable to play list, but was officially activated off the PUP list on Aug. 11. His recovery from ankle surgery was slower than expected, but he’s looked great in action tonight.

Recently, Cooper declared that he thinks he’s the best receiver in the National Football League. He knows that he hasn’t proven that. At least not yet.
“There’s a difference between thinking you’re the best and actually going out there and proving it,” Cooper said, via the Cowboys’ website. “Do I think I’m the best? Yes. Have I proven it? I wouldn’t say I have.”
There’s no denying Cooper’s talent, as he’s had five seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards. That’s five of his seven seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards. Those are very impressive numbers.
Look for Prescott, Cooper, and the rest of the Cowboys’ passing attack to be a huge problem for defenses in the 2021 season.
