WATCH: Dak Prescott connects with CeeDee Lamb for a 22-yard touchdown

Dallas Cowboys second-year receiver CeeDee Lamb continues to show why he’s one of the best players at his position in the National Football League.

Quarterback Dak Prescott throws a nice pump fake in the pocket, then beautifully hits Lamb in stride. Lamb burns Bucs’ defensive back Sean Murphy Bunting and gets hit by Antoine Winfield, Jr. as he reaches the end zone.

The score tied the game at 7-7 in the first quarter. The touchdown catch was the sixth of CeeDee Lamb’s young NFL career.

Prescott’s first touchdown

The touchdown is significant for a number of reasons but the biggest is that it’s Dak Prescott’s first touchdown pass of the 2021 campaign.

Thursday night marks Prescott’s first live game action since returning from a gruesome compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle last year.

Prescott also missed a lot of time in fall camp this off-season due to a latissimus strain while coming back from his previous ankle/leg injury.

Many people were questioning the severity of Prescott’s injury in the off-season, including Dallas Cowboys star receiver Michael Irvin. Irvin was thinking the injury was more serious than the Cowboys were revealing to the public.

Prescott’s shoulder injury and leg injury will definitely be two of the most watched injuries in the National Football League this season.

Year Two Breakout for CeeDee Lamb?

Coming into the season, Pro Football Focus was just one of the many media outlets projecting a breakout year for former Oklahoma Sooner, CeeDee Lamb.

With the early touchdown catch, he’s starting off the season the way many observers thought he would.

Here’s a quote from Pro Football Focus‘ Zach Tantillo: “Lamb lined up in the slot on 93.2% of his receiving snaps in 2020 and cemented himself as one of the league’s best slot receivers as a rookie. In fact, he put up the best rookie performance from the slot PFF has ever seen. His 69 catches and 877 yards both rank first since PFF started tracking data in 2006. With Prescott back at the helm, expect Lamb to ball out in 2021.”

Look for Lamb to continue to shine this fall.
