The Dallas Cowboys pushed their lead over the Washington Football Team to 49-7 with a huge play from their special teams with a blocked punt touchdown. Dallas’ first points of the second half came from Corey Clement blocking a Washington punt just outside the end zone. As the ball bounced behind them, Chauncey Golston recovered it cleanly for the score.

Dallas Cowboys special teams delivers

On a night where the Cowboys began the scoring fast and early, Golston’s touchdown made him the sixth player to score a touchdown for Dallas. The Cowboys set a franchise record early in the night with 17 players scoring a touchdown on the season. DeMarcus Lawrence returned an interception for a touchdown, breaking the franchise record.

In the second quarter, offensive lineman Terence Steele caught a touchdown pass in the red zone to push the record to 18. With Golston’s effort, the new record is 19 different Dallas Cowboys players that have scored a touchdown this season.

Golston was selected by Dallas in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. While he’s been used mostly as a defensive lineman adding depth to the Dallas Cowboys’ pass rush, his contribution on special teams made for the big moment in his rookie season.

Washington tempers flare

Former Alabama teammates and current Washington Football Team defensive linemen Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne got into a fight on the sidelines Sunday. The duo was upset on the sideline over frustration in the first half against the Cowboys, and cameras caught the moment Allen threw a punch at his longtime teammate.

The pair of lineman both played for Alabama, being on the same team for two seasons in 2015 and 2016. Being close for so long might have contributed to their tempers flaring on Sunday. While going over the previous drive on the sideline, Payne appeared to touch Allen in the head. The contact was enough to push Allen to throwing a punch and the pair needed to be separated by teammates.

While tempers continued to flare after the incident, both players were back on the field together for the next defensive drive.
