WATCH: Garrett Wilson runs blazing 40 time at NFL Scouting Combine
The incredibly deep wide receiver class for the 2022 NFL Draft is making a name for itself on Thursday night at the NFL Scouting Combine. Thus far, 12 wide receivers have run unofficial 40 times of 4.39 or faster. Two of them are former Ohio State stars, Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson. Olave ran a scorching 4.26 40 time and Wilson ran a 4.37 40 time.
Check out Garrett Wilson’s 4.37 40-yard dash time.
Wilson went to the same high school, Lake Travis (Austin, Texas) as the Cleveland Browns’ quarterback, Baker Mayfield. Not only did he light up the combine with his 40-time, but he also impressed in the gauntlet drill. The former Buckeye star displayed the super soft set of hands that has made him a highly coveted wide receiver prospect.
Check out his gauntlet performance below.
It doesn’t come as any surprise to anyone who’s followed Wilson’s very storied college football career. He continues to show why he’s one of the most gifted receiver prospects in the 2022 class.
Ohio State head coach Ryan Day was asked who is faster, Chris Olave or Garrett Wilson
Buckeyes head coach Ryan Day joined the NFL Network crew earlier on Thursday to discuss the players from his program hoping to increase their stock at the combine.
Ohio State — and particuarly the head coach — is seasoned in dodging the tough question, so it was surprising to hear Day give a blunt response to the very first question posed.

“We talked to Garrett Wilson yesterday and he said he thinks Olave is faster,” Andrew Siciliano said to open the interview with the OSU front man. Who do you think runs faster tonight in the 40?
“In the 40, I don’t know it will be interesting to see,” the Buckeyes head coach responded. “You know, I think Garrett is someone who will put some eyes on him when he goes to run. I’ll be interested to see. Maybe Chris is a touch faster, but it will be close.”
Regardless, the dynamic duo from the Buckeyes are both NFL ready talents according to nearly every draft expert.
In the latest NFL.com mock draft that came out on Thursday, Wilson was pegged as the No. 10 overall selection in the first round landing with the New York jets via a trade. Just six spots later, Bucky Brooks has Olave as the No. 16 overall selection headed to the Eagles.
