“Mic’d up” athletes makes for great sound bites. If you need more proof, look at Davante Adams and Denzel Ward last week.

Adams was wearing a microphone when the Green Bay Packers took on the Cleveland Browns. During the game, Adams went back and forth with Ward and had some great one-liners.

It started with an impressive play — naturally — and Adams complimented Ward.

“You’re a good player, bro,” Adams told Ward.

Later, Ward responded.

“You can’t tell me that after you just caught a ball on me,” Ward said.

“It’s true s—t though,” Adams told him.

When Adams returned to the sidelines, he recounted the conversation to some teammates and coaches around him. He also threw out a hilarious line at the end.

“He said, ‘You can’t tell me that after you just made a play on me,'” Adams said. “I’m like, ‘Alright, I won’t say anything, then.’

“I said, ‘You are, bro. You’re a good player. … I make a play on everybody.'”

Is he wrong? Probably not.

Adams is second in the NFL with 106 receptions and tied for third with 1,362 yards and 10 touchdowns for the Packers. Green Bay is 12-3 and closing in on the No. 1 seed in the NFC after locking up the NFC North title.

Last week against Cleveland, the Packers held on for a 24-22 win over the Browns on Christmas Day. Adams had quite a day, totaling 10 receptions for 114 yards and two touchdowns to propel Green Bay to victory.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers also had a good showing, completing 24 of 34 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns. With his first touchdown, he broke Brett Favre’s team record for touchdown passes in a Packers uniform.

Green Bay has two games left in its season, starting with a Sunday Night Football showdown with the Minnesota Vikings this week. The Packers close out the year Jan. 9 against the Detroit Lions before the postseason begins.
