WATCH: Jalen Ramsey defends Trevon Diggs against Ryan Clark criticism
Los Angeles Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey has never been one to shy away from criticism and prefers to face it head-on. And in an interview with ESPN football analyst Ryan Clark, Ramsey takes the former defensive back to task and defends fellow corner, Trevon Diggs of the Dallas Cowboys.
During the interview, the former Florida State standout expresses his disdain for those who compare him to two other corners like Diggs. to which Clark jumps in and agrees with Ramsey but takes a shot at the Cowboys corner, highlighting how he has given up over a 1,000 yards through the air. From there, the conversation gets interesting as Ramsey explains to Clark in depth the difference between his playing style and that of Diggs.
“It’s ’cause he always plays in-phase, but he also had 11, 12, maybe 13 picks. That’s crazy. He plays different though, he plays in-phase, and I play out of phase,” said Ramsey of the difference in their playing styles.
The difference between a corner playing in and out of phase is their proximity to the given receiver. Ramsey explains he plays out-of-phase, which allows for more space between him and the receiver and is ideal for past breakups or stripping the ball. Diggs, on the other hand, plays in phase. Meaning most of the time, he is in tight with the receiver and in a position to make a play on the ball. And that is precisely what Diggs prefers to do: go up in the air like a receiver and play the ball from his cornerback position.

Rams trade Woods
The Los Angeles Rams are shipping out starting wide receiver Robert Woods to the Tennessee Titans. The news of this trade comes shortly after the Rams and quarterback Matthew Stafford agreed to a substantial contract extension earlier on Saturday.
Tennessee finds themselves in search of another top wide receiver after releasing former All-Pro Julio Jones earlier in the month. The good news for the Titans is Woods is an exceptional Y receiver who can impact the game on different levels. The bad news is he’s coming back from an ACL injury that cut short his 2022 season.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Titans are sending a sixth-round pick to the Rams for Woods.
Woods sustained a torn ACL midway through the season in early November. In his first season with quarterback Matt Stafford, Woods was enjoying a productive year. In nine games, the former USC star caught 45 passes — accumulating 556 yards and four touchdowns.
