WATCH: Jameson Williams scores first career touchdown on first NFL catch

The Detroit Lions activated Jameson Williams last week as the former Alabama receiver and No. 12 overall pick in last year’s draft had made enough progress in his ACL rehab to return to the field. However, it’s hard to imagine they thought he’d make such a big impact so early on.
That’s because, on the first catch of his pro career, Williams also recorded his first NFL touchdown. Busted coverage from the Vikings left Williams wide open for the 41-yard score that put Detroit up 7-0 over Minnesota.
Williams started his career at Ohio State before transferring to Tuscaloosa for one season. He then finished his Crimson Tide career with 79 catches for 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns. However, his stock took a slight hit after he tore his ACL in the 2021 national championship game against Georgia.
He landed in Detroit during the draft and, after months of rehab, it seems like the future for Williams is as bright as previously thought now that he’s back in action.

Teammates rave about Jameson Williams’ ability, confidence
It’s clear the excitement level about the potential for Williams, who was the No. 12 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, is sky high in the Lions’ organization.
“One thing about him that a lot of guys don’t have is the confidence, just the confidence in himself to go out there and make the play,” fellow receiver D.J. Chark said, according to the Detroit Free Press. “If you have that, that’s half the battle. If you believe you can make the play, you will make the play. And I feel like (Williams) has that. And once we can get him acclimated into the system? Now you got guys like Saint (Amon-Ra St. Brown), him, Leaf (Kalif Raymond), J-Rey (Josh Reynolds), me. Sky’s the limit.”
