JD McKissic has people questioning whether or not he is from this planet after this incredible touchdown Sunday against Atlanta. The Washington running back jumped from about the four-yard line and went airborne for the game-winning touchdown.

There was 33 seconds remaining when he scored as Washington went on to win, 34-30. McKissic finished with five catches for 44 yards and a touchdown while adding 15 yards rushing.

McKissic failed the two-point conversion, but Washington didn’t need it as the defense held out for the win. Receiver Terry McLaurin led the team with six catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns.

However, it was McKissic’s late-game heroics that took centerstage in this one. A sixth-year player out of Arkansas State, McKissic had a career year in 2020, his first season in Washington. He had 80 catches for 589 yards and two touchdowns.

Taylor Heinicke, who was thrust into the starting quarterback job after a hip injury to Ryan Fitzpatrick in Week 1, had a nice game against the Falcons. He finished 23-of-33 for 290 yards and three touchdowns.

Cordarrelle Patterson did damage for the Falcons, finishing with three touchdowns on 82 yards receiving. All four of Atlanta’s scores came through the air, while Washington held them to 99 yards rushing.

The victory improves Washington to 2-2 and puts them a spot behind Dallas in the NFC East standings. Both the New York Giants and Philadelphia are 1-3. Dallas and Washington do not play until Dec. 12, so the division could look a lot different by that point.

Washington will look to improve its winning streak to two games when it takes on New Orleans next Sunday. Atlanta has a matchup with the New York Jets.

JD McKissic has a touchdown in two of four games thus far in 2021. Can he make it three of five next week against the Saints? The team will certainly need him as they look to get over .500.
