“I want him there, the prodigal son. We’ll let him right back in…What I’m saying is deep down you’re a fraud! You’re a real Cowboy fan!” said Jones. “We’re in the hot sun, we’re having a walk through in here today and we’ve got thousands of fans out here. And I know they’re not here to watch Stephen A.!”
Smith, a New York native, has had a divisional beef with Jones and the Cowboys for years. He has more so poked at their fanbase in recent seasons. Smith went on to question Jones regarding Dallas’ early season matchups in 2022 by suggesting the Cowboys may struggle to start. Jones kept it going by disregarding Smith’s opinion on Dallas’ early slate.
“Let’s see here. How much sleep should I lose whether he’s got us 3-3 or 4-2? Let me talk about some real problems,” said Jones.
Jones successfully played up to the sea of Dallas fans behind the set watching all this go down. It’s a small moment in a long feud between Stephen A. and the Cowboys, but this is easily one of the most memorable moments it has ever provided.

Smith left the practice field on Wednesday after a non-contact incident. After initially ruling out ACL damage, NFL insiders reported Thursday that the injury is an avulsion fracture, which is a separation of the hamstring tendon from the bone behind the knee. Smith tore his left hamstring but it also came away from the bone.
The avulsion fracture requires surgery, which Smith could get as soon as today. He will meet with doctors Thursday but the timetable for his return doesn’t sound good.
“If he’s back at all, it’ll be December,” Ian Rapoport shared.
The former USC Trojan was just getting over an ankle injury that he suffered during a joint practice versus the Denver Broncos.
Tyron Smith is an eight-time Pro Bowl selection but he’s dealt with many injuries throughout his career. He has not played a full season since 2015. He’s had a myriad of knee, ankle, neck, and elbow injuries. He missed 14 games in 2020 because of neck surgery and six games last season due to an ankle injury and COVID.
With Smith out indefinitely, the Cowboys are going to continue breaking in former Tulsa offensive lineman Tyler Smith. Smith was the No. 24 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
