WATCH: Joe Burrow celebrates division title with cigar, dancing

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and his teammates celebrated their AFC North division title in the locker room after Sunday’s game. Burrow was taken out on the final drive of the game after suffering an apparent knee injury, although Burrow claimed that the injury was nothing serious after the game.

Joe Burrow and Bengals clinch division title

With their 34-31 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, the Bengals have clinched the AFC North division title for the first time since 2015. During the game, Burrow appeared to injure his knee on a fourth-and-one play to end the game with a touchdown. The play resulted in a Chiefs penalty, extending the Bengals drive, but at the potential cost of their young star quarterback.

Burrow claimed after the game that the injury was nothing serious and a result of soreness from before the game. If Burrow was injured, his postgame celebration with his teammates didn’t show it. The Bengals players celebrated as Burrow smoked a cigar, all wearing their AFC North Champion shirts.

The sight of Burrow with a victory cigar is a great thing to see for LSU fans who remember the famous photo of Burrow sitting with a cigar in his mouth after winning the National Championship.

Burrow injures knee late against Chiefs

“Asked Burrow about his knee, said ‘he’ll be fine,’” reported Wolfson after the game.

While it wasn’t clear initially what happened specifically to Burrow, after the play that injured him he sat on the field for a moment holding onto his leg. The Bengals opted not to take a chance on anything serious and pulled him out of the game for their final play, a kneel-down to set up a field goal.

The Bengals’ big win pushed Cincinnati into the third seed if the AFC playoffs began today, and put them within striking distance of passing Kansas City next week. However, the health of Burrow will be of major concern for the Bengals as they prepare their playoff campaign.

If Burrow isn’t fully healthy going into next week, the Bengals may have to decide if it’s worth risking him for the final game of the regular season.

Burrow went into further detail after the game on why he didn’t return for the final play.

“It’s good enough,” said Burrow via The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. “Sore after Chargers game. Nothing serious. Would have come back in, knew [we would] just knee it and then clock it. Let Brandon [Allen] do it.”
