WATCH: NBC releases trailer for six-part Joe Montana documentary
The NBC Network is just days away from releasing a six-part documentary on NFL legend Joe Montana. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback shared the trailer for the documentary after Christmas.
The documentary, titled “Joe Montana: Cool Under Pressure,” will air on Peacock on Jan. 6.
Future Hall-of-Famer Tom Brady appears in the trailer for the series. The former New England and current Bucs quarterback grew up as a 49ers fan while watching Joe Montana. Brady is currently getting his own docu-series treatment with “Man in the Arena” on ESPN+.
Also in the trailer was iconic NFL wideout Jerry Rice. Rice caught more than 100 receiving touchdowns from “Joe Cool.”
The legacy of Joe Montana
Before Joe Montana made a name for himself with the San Francisco 49ers, the quarterback got his start at the University of Notre Dame. From 1975-1978, he threw for 4,121 yards and 25 touchdowns. His success, including a national title, resulted in a third-round draft pick in 1979.
After Notre Dame, Montana went on to start for 14 seasons for the 49ers. He also spent two years with the Kansas City Chiefs at the end of his career.

In 192 NFL games played, Joe Montana posted 40,551 passing yards and 273 touchdowns. Fans can only imagine what the Comeback Kid would have done if he played in today’s pass-heavy game.
Montana is also famous for a Super Bowl game-winner called “The Drive.” Down 16–13, he got the ball on the 49ers’ 8-yard line with 3:10 on the clock. He marched the team 92 yards down the field versus Cincinnati to win Super Bowl XXIII.
