Dallas Cowboys appear to make decision on Dak Prescott
The Dallas Cowboys appeared to make a decision on quarterback Dak Prescott’s ability to start against the Minnesota Vikings ahead of their Sunday game. The Cowboys have not yet ruled Prescott inactive for tonight’s game, despite a calf injury that he sustained on the final play of the game before their bye week. After multiple discussions on the field between Cowboys leadership, Prescott was seen not leading drills in warmups on the field.
Dallas Cowboys potential decision on Dak Prescott
Former NFL doctor David Chao assessed Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott during his pre-game warmup routine ahead of their game against the Minnesota Vikings.
“All along have said that Dak is healthy enough to play. The question is: will the team let him and risk aggravation?”
Shortly after Prescott began doing his normal warm-up routine, Prescott was seen going third during warmups.
“Dak Prescott going third through drills he normally leads,” detailed The Athletic’s Jon Machota. “A good sign that Cooper Rush will be the starter tonight.”
Prescott was seen going back into the locker room ten minutes before the Cowboys’ inactive list was due to be reported.
Initial doubts from former doctor
David Chao believed signs point to Dak Prescott missing Sunday night’s game with a calf injury even before Sunday’s warmups. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback sat out of practice during the team’s bye week to recover and was considered questionable.

NFL reporter Ian Rappoport wrote Sunday morning that the Cowboys will wait and go through pregame warmups before a final decision is made.
“Dak can play but seems like he won’t,” Chao wrote on Twitter. “The indecision, recent PRP, division lead and recent quotes all point to being cautious.”
The Cowboys are coming off of a 35-29 victory against the New England Patriots in Week 6. Prescott finished 36-of-51 for 445 yards passing and three touchdowns. He has been an integral part of a Dallas offense thank ranks top five in the NFL.
Previous reports indicated the team was optimistic about the star’s status, but that doesn’t appear to be the case any more. If he is unable to go, backup quarterback Cooper Rush would likely receive a start in his place.
“Given the reports of soreness after ramping up activities yesterday, it seems very clear the Cowboys will do the prudent thing and sit Prescott versus the Vikings,” Chao said on his website.
