WATCH: NFL insider reveals which QB-needy teams have met with Anthony Richardson
Former Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson dazzled at the 2023 NFL Combine on Saturday, showing off his absurd athleticism and explosive arm. And it’ll surely have a number of NFL teams pondering spending premium draft capital on him.
At least a handful of teams met with Richardson already in Indianapolis, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. While many expected Richardson could last until later in the first round, the teams he’s met with might indicate he’ll be off the board sooner, rather than later.
“So maybe instead of the late first round, maybe it’s kind of earlier than we thought. Especially when you think about teams like the Raiders, the Seahawks, the Colts, the Panthers, all of those quarterback-needy teams in the Top 10 have spent time on Anthony Richardson this week. Certainly something to consider. Of course, when he lights it up behind me in the 40, all of that will ramp up,” Rapoport said.

Richardson did, indeed, light up the 40-yard dash as Rapoport intimated. The hulking 6-foot-4, 240 pounds quarterback ran the sprint in a blistering 4.43 seconds. Then he went and put on a show during the throwing session, heaving missiles down the field on deeper throws.
“Talking to the people I’ve spoken with in Indy, the evaluators, the quarterback coaches, the general managers, they are intrigued by Anthony Richardson. And I think guys, the consensus sort of seemed to be coming in: You probably have three quarterbacks in the Top 5 and Anthony Richardson would go, I don’t know, maybe somewhere late in the first round. I’m not so sure about that. Starting to feel, to me, just based on the teams that he’s met with — and he has met with a lot of quarterback-needy teams in the Top 10 — certainly possible that he could be pushed up, up, up as we see quarterbacks do from time-to-time,” Rapoport said.
