Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has not been having a very good season in 2021. Tonight, it didn’t get any better against the Seattle Seahawks as he had one of the worst fumbles of the season so far.

Watch below as he tries to pump fake, bring the ball back in, but then looses a grip on the ball and it falls on the ground, where the Seahawks recover.

The fumble happened with the score tied 17-17, with 11:32 left in the 4th quarter. The Steelers won the game 23-20 in overtime.

Let’s just say the internet never forgets and Roethlisberger is going to hear about his fumble for a long, long time.

Especially in a close game, coughing up a fumble like that could have been costly. Luckily for him, the Seahawks were unable to capitalize on the turnover and didn’t convert it into any points.

For the game, Roethlisberger completed 29 of his 40 pass attempts for 229 passing yards, while tossing in one touchdown, no interceptions, and one fumble.

The fumble by Roethlisberger is reminiscient of the famous “Tuck Rule” fumble by Tom Brady in the 2002 playoffs when the Patriots were playing against the Raiders.

ProFootballTalk was quick to remind everyone that the “Tuck Rule” is now out of the rulebook.

Here’s a clip above of the famous “Tuck Rule” fumble from 2002.

It is to this day, one of the most controversial plays in NFL history. Had the play been ruled a fumble, the Raiders would have recovered and won the football game.

Instead, the play was ruled an incomplete pass, and Adam Viniatieri sent the Patriots to the Super Bowl with his legendary game winning kick in the snow.

Injuries for Roethlisberger

Roethlisberger has been dealing with a number of injuries and has a brace on his right hip tonight. “The bruising is serious. It’s all the way from his hip to his kneecap,” a source close to the situation noted. He’s been dealing with a number of injuries throughout the season, but fans will not be forgiving of Roethlisberger simply because he has been playing hurt.

Many Steeler fans have been calling on Roethlisberger to retire on social media for the past few years. Those calls will only grow louder after a performance like tonight.
