WATCH: Tom Brady penalized after blowing up on NFL officials

Future NFL Hall of Famer Tom Brady got a rare flag against him in the playoff game Sunday versus the L.A. Rams. After taking a hard hit from Rams defensive lineman Von Miller, the Tampa Bay quarterback got in the face of the white hat ref, prompting an unsportsmanlike call.
Brady clearly thought the hit, which led to a banged-up lip, amounted to roughing the passer.
After costing his team 15 yards for his outburst, Brady quickly moved on to the next play. On 2nd and 18, he completed a 20-yard pass to Leonard Fournette. Fournette made the grab with one hand with the Bucs trailing 17-3 in the second quarter.
Ahead of the big game versus the Rams, Tom Brady discussed one call that he feels he doesn’t get enough from the officials. Much to the surprise of opposing fans, the seven-time Super Bowl champion said he doesn’t get roughing the passer calls at the rate that he should.
“I’m always in my mind going, ‘I don’t remember the last time I got a roughing the passer,'” Brady said in regards to a perception of favorable treatment. “I think we should look that up over the last 10 years, who’s got the most roughing the passer penalties. I hope it’s not me, because then I just put my foot in my mouth, but I don’t feel like I get them as much as people may think that I get them.”
In 2021, Brady only received one roughing the passer call. The hit from Von Miller, which led to an apparent bloody lip, apparently didn’t qualify for a flag on Sunday.
Bucs without key offensive lineman
Tristan Wirfs has been a revelation for the Buccaneers since being drafted thirteenth overall in the 2020 NFL Draft. The former Iowa star has ascended to the best of the league, being selected as a First-team All-Pro and Pro Bowler in his second season.

Additionally, Wirfs was able to taste the thrill of winning a Super Bowl in his rookie season. Now in his quest to win his second ring in as many seasons, the star tackle won’t be on the field. After suffering an ankle injury last Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles, Wirfs will be sidelined against the Los Angeles Rams.
“Bucs’ Pro Bowl RT Tristan Wirfs is out today vs. the Rams,” tweeted ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Early in the game against Philadelphia, Wirfs injured his ankle. After taking a trip back to the locker room, the former Hawkeyes tackle attempted to gut it out. Still, he simply wasn’t right.
Now, Tampa Bay will be missing the reliable Wirfs against one of their biggest tests yet. To illustrate, the Rams are bringing star pass rushers Von Miller, Leonard Floyd and Aaron Donald with them. Tom Brady will have his work cut out for him on Sunday.
The news regarding Tristan Wirfs is huge, but the Buccaneers did get some good news regarding their offensive line. Last weekend, center Ryan Jensen also left with an injury. However, he’s ready to suit up for the Buccaneers against the Rams.
