The White House has confirmed that the Philadelphia Eagles will visit President Donald Trump to celebrate their Super Bowl victory. On Monday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the Eagles are set to visit the White House on April 28.

“April 28, I can confirm the Philadelphia Eagles will be here at the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl victory,” Leavitt said. “I know there was a lot of fake news about an invitation that wasn’t sent or was sent. We want to correct the record.”

On Monday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the White House formally extended an invitation to the Eagles to visit after beating the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. “We sent the invite, and they enthusiastically accepted,” a White House official told The Inquirer. “We are working with them to determine a date and logistics.”

President Donald Trump praises Eagles after Super Bowl victory

Before the Super Bowl, President Donald Trump said he was rooting for the Chiefs to win. But after the game was over, Trump praised the Eagles on the Mark Levin Show.

“The Eagles were really, it was like flawless football, amazing,” Trump said. “Even the first play, they called it back. It was a long pass, it was, you know, either a touchdown or going to be a touchdown. They called it back, completed long pass, and they went on to get touchdown after touchdown. They really played great.”

The Eagles would be the second team to visit the White House during Trump’s second term. The reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers visited the White House in February. Trump was in office when the Eagles won the Super Bowl in 2018, but the team did not visit the White House after the invitation was revoked due to a small group of players who planned to attend.

The Eagles’ celebration in Washington will mark the end of a wild ride for a team that played well all season long. One of the big reasons for the team’s success is the play of running back Saquon Barkley, who rushed for 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns during the regular season. The defense also played well, as defensive lineman Jalen Carter and linebacker Zack Baun were named to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro Team.
