White Sox sponsoring Ty Dillon for Chicago Street Race with great paint scheme
The NASCAR Chicago Street Race will have a little bit of local flare. Ty Dillon scored a sponsorship with the White Sox ahead of the brand-new race. This is a big deal for a team like Spire Motorsports and a driver like Dillon. He hasn’t had the best go of things the last two seasons, but this shows he is still marketable at least.
With a special race, you have to have a special paint scheme. To make it a local sponsor and a beloved team like the White Sox, this car will be popular this July. If there is a diecast made of it, expect Chicagoans to turn into the biggest Ty Dillon fans.
The Chicago Street Race is a mystery. No one really knows what to expect out of it. But NASCAR has worked hard to make it an event. Hopefully, we see some more special schemes just like this one in the coming weeks for this race.
There are plans for the White Sox to host the first ever “NASCAR Night” when they invite race fans out to the ballpark with all kinds of fun events for families to enjoy.
“This partnership with Spire Motorsports is truly a unique opportunity to showcase the White Sox brand during one of the most talked about events in Chicago,” Mike Downey, White Sox director of marketing and promotions said. “The NASCAR Chicago Street Race is certain to be an event for the record books, and we’re grateful to team up with Spire Motorsports and Beggars Pizza to be part of what is sure to be a memorable event for all.”
While Ty Dillon is still finding his way in the Next Gen era, this is a big step in the right direction.

Ty Dillon needs things to change
After a promising Truck Series career, Ty Dillon has been navigating the waters of the Cup Series. He has had full-time stints with Germain Racing, Petty GMS, and now Spire. In 202 races, he has seven top-10 finishes, no wins, no pole awards.
Some of that comes with the kinds of teams he has driven for. However, those teams have had success with other drivers.
After posting just one top-10 finish last year in the No. 42 Chevy for Petty GMS, Dillon was once again on the move. He is now in the 77 of Spire Motorsports. So, how has he done? Well, the grandson of Richard Childress has just one finish inside of the top 20 this season, and it came at Talladega. That’s an issue.
Talk all you want about Spire’s team or equipment. When you have results like Dillon has had this year, it is hard to forgive. The Next-Gen car might just be too much of a learning curve. Or, maybe something else is missing for the legacy talent.
Whatever it is, it needs to change.
