Wide receiver Marquez Callaway lands new deal with Saints after Steelers release
One day after his release from the Pittsburgh Steelers, former Tennessee wide receiver Marquez Callaway has found a new home with a familiar organization. Callaway is inking a new deal to return to the New Orleans Saints, which is the team that picked him up for three seasons after the 2020 NFL Draft.
The 6-foot-2 wide receiver is entering his fifth season in the league after spending the 2023 season primarily playing on the Las Vegas Raiders on the practice squad. He returned to the Saints on the practice squad in November before signing a futures/reserve deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Callaway began training camp with the Steelers only to receive his release after a week of practice. It freed him up to re-sign with the Saints for a fourth season with the team.
As a rookie, Callaway played in 11 games for the Saints. He tallied 21 receptions for 213 yards and no touchdowns. His production increased in his second season, however, as he posted 46 catches in 17 games for 698 yards and six touchdowns.
In 2022, which was his last year on the Saints active roster, he had 16 catches in 14 games played. He tallied 158 yards with one touchdown.

More on the 2024 NFL offseason, free agency
The NFL 2024 calendar year began at 4 p.m. ET on March 13. At that time, contracts running through 2023 officially ran out, making those players free agents. Prior to the beginning of free agency, teams had a chance to designate one franchise or transition tag player, starting on Feb. 20 at 4 p.m. ET and ending on March 5. Beginning March 11 through March 13 teams could enter into a legal negotiation with players who will become unrestricted free agents.
In addition to NFL free agency, the new year also marked the beginning of all trades being made official by the league office. April 19 marked the deadline to sign restricted free agents to offer sheets. On April 24, the deadline for teams to match restricted free agent offers sheets hit.
