Terry McLaurin leaves Washington game with injury
A tough day just got even tougher for the Washington Football Team. Star Washington wide receiver Terry McLaurin has left the game and gone to the locker room with an injury.
McLaurin went up to catch a deep ball, and he had nothing to break his fall on his way down to the field. His head appeared to have slammed into the ground, bouncing off, and McLaurin slowly walked off the field after the play.
McLaurin quickly left for the Washington locker room after the injury. Washington tweeted that McLaurin is being evaluated for a concussion and is questionable to return.
McLaurin was targeted four times before going down with the potential injury. He did not tally a reception. Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs has been shadowing McLaurin throughout the game, and Washington’s offense has been completely invisible throughout the entirety of the contest.

McLaurin’s injury is a big blow to Washington’s offense
If there has been one consistent thing in Washington over the last three years, it is Terry McLaurin. In each of McLaurin’s three seasons in Washington, at least three quarterbacks have taken snaps at quarterback. Despite a lack of consistency from the quarterback position, McLaurin has continued to produce.
As a rookie in 2019, McLaurin had 58 receptions for 919 yards and seven touchdowns. Last year, he hauled in 87 receptions for 1,118 yards and four touchdowns. So far this season, McLaurin has caught 61 of 103 targets for 808 yards and five touchdowns.
Behind McLaurin, there has been even more inconsistency on Washington’s offense. Entering Sunday’s game, excluding McLaurin, Washington’s top receiver was Adam Humphries, who has 29 receptions for 307 yards. Running back J.D. McKissic also has 43 receptions for 397 yards and two touchdowns. Curtis Samuel was signed in the offseason to try and give McLaurin some help in the Washington offense, but Samuel has battled injuries and only has six receptions in four games. Losing McLaurin isn’t something that Washington can afford if the team truly wants to contend for a playoff spot.
