Will Ferrell is one of the most beloved comedians of all-time. And several years back, he went on a hot streak in theatres, delivering one of the best Christmas classics we’ll ever see. Elf. There’s something about seeing a grown man in an elf costume that will forever make people laugh. And few can play the role quite like Ferrell. On Sunday night, Ferrell decided to rock his hilarious Buddy the Elf costume to a Kings-Flyers hockey game.

Ferrell has always been a huge fan over the years. And he’s never lost his sense of humor. So, it’s not surprising in the slightest to see him dress up for a sporting event.

The Los Angeles Kings won the game, 5-4, after scoring two goals in the fourth quarter. They put on a show for Ferrell, that’s for certain.

The budget for Elf when they made it was $33 million. And it raked in $228.9 million at the box office, becoming one of the most popular Christmas movies of all-time. So, it’s a fitting time for Ferrell to break out his special outfit. Elf was nominated for nine awards and won two. It won the 2004 Golden Trailer for Best Comedy. It was also nominated for a 2004 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award for favorite movie.

There were reports of a potential sequel for the movie in 2013. But, that did not happen, due to Jon Favreau (the director) and Will Ferrell not getting along. Regardless, the movie has withstood the test of time over the years and it’s still one of the most popular Christmas movies out there.

Will Ferrell delivered several classic lines in that one that will never be forgotten.

In 2017, Fandango users rated Elf as the best Christmas film of the 21st century. The movie was also ranked in the Top 25 Christmas movies of all-time by several different media outlets and publications, including the Chicago Tribune (17th), Forbes (7th), and Entertainment Weekly (4th).
