Will Johnson injury update: Michigan DB's status for team Pro Day revealed

Former Michigan cornerback Will Johnson is still not fully healthy. Johnson sustained a minor hamstring injury recently and will not participate in the Wolverines’ Pro Day on March 21, per Jordan Reid of ESPN.
Johnson is expected to be fully cleared and will hold a private workout for NFL teams on April 14, Reid added. One of the top defensive back prospects in the 2025 NFL Draft, Johnson skipped the workout portion of last week’s NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
Johnson battled through injuries his final year in Ann Arbor, appearing in just six of 13 games. He missed the Minnesota game with a shoulder contusion, returned the following week against Washington and then missed the remainder of the season with a turf toe injury.
Will Johnson suffers another injury in lead up to NFL Draft
Before an injury-riddled 2024, Johnson was arguably considered the best cornerback in college football. In 32 games at Michigan, he compiled 68 tackles (57 solo), nine interceptions and 10 pass defenses. In 2023 and ’24, Johnson was in coverage for 478 snaps. He allowed zero touchdowns, a 36.7 passer rating and recorded an 84.1 coverage grade, per Pro Football Focus. Johnson earned Defensive MVP honors for his performance in Michigan’s 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship game victory over Washington.

The 6-foot-2, 202-pound Johnson will almost certainly be a first-round pick in next month’s NFL Draft. That being said, he isn’t focusing too much on where he might end up. Instead, his focus is on preparing for when he is in the league this coming season.
“I try not to think about it too much. Because you never know where you’re gonna go, you never know what’s gonna happen,” Johnson told Pro Football Talk. “So, I try to do everything I can to impress these teams. Show these teams why I’ll be a great player for them, work my hardest to put myself in a great position for when I get there, and then let everything handle itself.”
