The Tennessee Titans have been awaiting the return of quarterback Will Levis. Unfortunately, it seems like they’ll have to wait a bit longer. Once again, Mason Rudolph will get the start for the Titans. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Levis had a good week of practice, but his shoulder is not quite ready.

More on his injury and the recovery process

Titans QB Will Levis is dealing with a grade 2 AC sprain in his right shoulder, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. It was considered a four-to-five-week injury at the time. Levis has played through injuries in the past, but this one was considered week-to-week.

Levis has been turnover-prone this year with the Titans, completing 66.4% of his passes for 699 passing yards, while tossing in five touchdowns with seven interceptions. Patience was running thin within the Titans’ franchise, and star receiver Calvin Ridley was furious with Levis after his performance against the Colts.

According to NextGenStats tracking, Ridley had eight targets on 21 routes, for a total of 145 targeted air yards. This is the first time in Titans/Oilers franchise history that a player had 8 or more targets and zero catches and zero receiving yards in a game. It’s only the 13th time in NFL history that a player has had such a game.

His first year in the league, Levis got off to a hot start in the NFL. He completed 58.4% of his passes for 1,808 passing yards, while tossing in eight touchdowns with four interceptions. Levis put up those numbers in just nine games of action, getting the Titans to hand over the keys to him as the starting quarterback in his second year.

But opposing defensive coordinators had several months to lock in and study tape on Levis and figure out his weaknesses/strengths as a quarterback. And he’s had a much tougher time this season, turning the ball over at a much higher rate. He’s made some baffling throws that have left Titans fans shaking their heads. Not only will he need to get healthy, but he’ll also have to play much better. Or else he won’t be the starting quarterback for Tennessee for much longer.
