Will Levis 'questionable' to return after being carted to locker room
The Tennessee Titans suffered a big blow in the first half of their game at the Houston Texans in Week 17 when rookie quarterback Will Levis went out on a cart.
Levis dropped back to pass on a play early in the second quarter and was plowed over and sacked by a Texans player, dropping the ball in the process. Houston scooped it up and ran for the touchdown while Levis limped off afterwards.
Shortly after that, the NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano reported that Levis was carted to the locker room: “Will Levis carted to the locker room.” He also noted that Ryan Tannehill was in at QB for the injured youngster.
That strip sack and fumble return for the score only further poured into the Texans’ big first half lead as they went up three possessions with a 17-nothin’ tally early in the second quarter. After that nasty hit and making his way off the field by cart, you’d think head coach Mike Vrabel will go ahead and call it a day for Levis, especially when there’s a seasoned backup like Ryan Tannehill on standby.
UPDATE: Tennessee Titans later downgraded Levis to “out” coming out of halftime.
According to Titans reporter Jim Wyatt, the Titans did go ahead and rule our their rookie starter for the remainder of the Texans game after his second injury in as many contests against that particular division rival.
Levis injured in last Titans-Texans matchup
Is it Groundhog Day? Because Will Levis just finally returned to the Tennessee lineup Sunday after missing the previous game due to an injury suffered a couple weeks back vs. the Texans.
The rookie quarterback suffered the injury in the closing minutes of the Week 15 loss against Houston in overtime. Levis returned to practice for Tennessee last week but couldn’t play vs. the Seahawks.

Before taking the big hit that knocked him out at the end of the game, Levis went 17-for-26 for 199 passing yards with one interception. He had a tough day behind an offensive line that allowed seven sacks for a loss of 61 yards against the Texans defensive front.
On the year, Levis is 147-for-249 since taking over for the aforementioned Tannehill. He had 1,792 passing yards with eight touchdowns and four interceptions entering Week 17.
Aside from Levis, the Titans had a slew of players on the injury report with several marked ‘out’ for Sunday’s game. Luckily, wide receiver Treylon Burks returned to practice following his illness and is expected to play.
The Titans, now 5-9, are sitting in last place in the AFC South behind three teams that are all 8-6. Though the Jaguars, Texans and Colts are tied by their records, Jacksonville owns the tiebreaker with two wins over the Colts and a road win against Houston.
