Will Levis recalls receiving prank call on NFL Draft night: 'I still have the number saved'
The biggest story coming out of day one of the 2023 NFL Draft wasn’t the Carolina Panthers drafting Bryce Young with the No. 1 overall pick, or the Houston Texans drafting two cornerstones of their swift rebuild with the next two selections.
Instead, it was Kentucky quarterback Will Levis who made headlines because of his prolonged stay in the green room. Some analysts had Levis being selected as high as in the top 10, but ultimately fell to the second pick in the second round by the Tennessee Titans. He ultimately waited through the entire first day at the draft before flying home to experience day two with his family.
Levis, who went on to take over the starting quarterback job in Nashville after injuries sidelined Ryan Tannehill last season, revealed during an appearance on ‘Bussin’ with the Boys’ that he was contacted by a prank caller in the middle of the draft. Of course, Levis picked up thinking it was an NFL team on the other end.
“I was waiting on maybe a phone call and I think at pick [No.] 29, I get a phone call from somebody. It was a prank call from somebody,” Levis said. … “Random number. I still have the number saved. I’ll find them someday.”

It appears that for now, Levis has had the last laugh as he’s been enjoying his time in fall camp as the starting quarterback for the Titans heading into his second year in the NFL.

Levis’ wait paid off, however, as the former Wildcat has been QB1 in Nashville since November of last season. He appeared in nine games for Tennessee as a rookie, completing 58.4 percent (149 of 255) for 1,808 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions. He went 3-6 as the Titans starter over that time,
During his most recent outing this preseason, Levis led his team to two scoring drives completing 7 of 8 passes for 118 yards before being his preseason came to a close. With the likes of DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd for Levis to throw to, there’s a lot to be hopeful for regarding the potential of the second-year quarterback in 2024.
The Titans will open up their 2024 regular season on the road against the Chicago Bears. Kickoff is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. ET live on FOX.
