Philadelphia Eagles rookie running back Will Shipley picked an excellent time for his first NFL touchdown. The former Clemson star scored on a 2-yard run in the fourth quarter against the Commanders to cap off a dominant win for the Eagles in the NFC Championship Game.

Will Shipley had four carries for 77 yards in the win and also forced a fumble on special teams. He joined Good Morning America on Monday to discuss a number of topics, including his first NFL touchdown.

“Yea, it was, gah, it’s just a dream come true,” Will Shipley said. “And to do it in the NFC Championship with my teammates and guys that I love, and you know, you see Saquon right there come grab me and celebrate.

“That’s someone that I look up to, someone that has taken me under his wing since I got drafted to this organization. And just couldn’t be more thankful, couldn’t be more blessed.”

As you can see at the end of this clip, Saquon Barkley came rushing in from the sideline to celebrate with Shipley. The rookie shared what it has been like having someone like Barkley to learn from.

“Yea, that’s just who he is, you know. He exceeds his reputation. And I’ve just been so lucky to spend pretty much every day with him this year,” Will Shipley said. “And just the year that he’s had, being able to witness that, he sets the standard for our team. He sets the standard for the running back room.

“He’s just a guy that you wanna go out there and play your butt off for. So yea, he’s a great leader, great role model on and off the football field. And couldn’t be more thankful to have him by my side throughout my first year.”

Barkley is certainly an excellent player to learn from as he rushed for more than 2,000 yards during the regular season and is averaging 147 rushing yards per game in the playoffs.

Up next, Will Shipley, Saquon Barkley and the Eagles will look to finish off the year with a Super Bowl win over the Chiefs. But first, Shipley is going to enjoy this win and his first NFL touchdown.

“Just to be able to share that with my teammates and my coaches, my friends and family who were able to come and watch the game, is a special moment,” he said. “One that I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”
