Alabama and Wisconsin will face off in a key out-of-conference game on Saturday, Sept. 14. It’s a matchup that could have College Football Playoff implications down the line, depending on how the rest of the season plays out.

This is the first real test for Alabama to show that it is still going to be one of the best programs in the country under Kalen DeBoer as the Crimson Tide opened the season with a couple of lesser opponents in Western Kentucky and USF.

Meanwhile this is also an opportunity for Wisconsin to get its biggest win yet under second-year head coach Luke Fickell.

The early line for the Alabama vs. Wisconsin matchup has been released. FanDuel has the Crimson Tide as a 15.5-point favorite over the Badgers. The over-under for the matchup has been set at 53.5.

One thing worth watching for Saturday’s game is if Alabama offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor will be able to suit up. The starting left tackle was injured during warmups ahead of Alabama’s season opener against Western Kentucky.

Proctor was rated as a five-star recruit and the top offensive lineman in the country in the class of 2023, per the On3 Industry rankings.

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer said during his coaches show this past week that Proctor is more “day-to-day” than “week-to-week.”

DeBoer confirmed it was a new injury for Proctor, who’s sure to be a key piece of the offensive line in front of Jalen Milroe. He’s working to get back on the field, though, and DeBoer said it’s clear the goal is to return quickly.

“With Kadyn, unfortunately during the pregame, just suffered an injury,” DeBoer said of Proctor on Hey Coach and The Kalen DeBoer Show Wednesday night. “Something really brand new and stuff. Just things that he’s gonna work through. I think it’s more of a day-to-day than it is a week-to-week. If he had his choice, I’m sure he’d be out there on the football field this week. And we’ll see. We definitely, early in the week here, just got to play it really slow, and he’s doing really well.

“I can tell you this guy is pouring everything into wanting to get on the football field. When I talk about pouring – it’s him and it’s other guys that just have other dings, but especially him – we’re talking six, eight hours a day in the training room. Just passionate about getting back out there. You don’t do that without having intentions of getting out there sooner than later.”
