Wrecking at Daytona 500 wasn't the lowest point for Corey LaJoie on Sunday: 'I completely sh*t my pants'

Corey LaJoie was putting together a strong race at the Daytona 500 when he was caught up in one of the wrecks in the final laps of the race, ultimately forcing him to finish P22.
Things would get worse after the wreck, though.
On his Stacking Pennies podcast on Wednesday, LaJoie was put to the test by a listener question segment called Penny for your Thoughts. There’s no sugar-coating this one, so let’s just dive right in.
“Did you or did you not sh*t your pants after the race?” LaJoie’s co-host on the show asked him.
Immediately Corey LaJoie shifted in his seat and reached for his hat with both hands, adjusting it as he closed his eyes and prepared to answer.
“Why you got to ask that question?” he said. “I can’t lie. You know, there’s a lot of things I say on this podcast. I feel like I’m transparent and a lot of times it gets me in trouble, but I feel like the listeners are as much a family at this point, they’ve been listening long enough, so I have to tell you.”
The intrigue begins.
“So during the rain delay I asked the guys to get me a plastic bag because I thought I was going to throw up in the car,” LaJoie started. “And if they would have found me a bag I would have just pulled the trigger during the rain delay and bag it up and keep it moving. They didn’t, so I just had to like just hold it in.”
The race was a wild one. Corey LaJoie was competitive at times, getting near the front when his line was working.
Through it all, the stomach bug continued to weigh on his mind. Well, at least for a little while.
“Through the race, almost win, get crashed, all the emotions — high, low, high, low — get out, do some media, talk to Sean, talk to Lee Spencer,” LaJoie said. “I’m like, you know, I’m kind of pumped up, but I’ve really got to pee.
“So there’s crew guys in there. I go to the urinal, do my business. I tried to let one squeak out. I completely sh*t my pants. I completely forgot that I had a stomach bug and there was no cushion, there was no margin for error.”

Unfortunately, this wasn’t a situation where Corey LaJoie had the bathroom to himself and could quietly take care of things before moving on. Nope. This was a very public restroom.
“So I had to then go, no I’m just sitting there peeing and I’m sure the guy next to me was concerned because I was just peeing and I just said F***,” LaJoie said, beginning to laugh hysterically on the podcast. “The guy looked at me with concern so I waddle into the damn handicap stall and had to get, I mean it’s sweaty. I got my damn undershirt on, I’m trying to get my cool shirt off and I’m butt naked in the stall. I get all cleaned up and I walk back to the bus, I get straight in the shower. And that was good.
“It was bad, man. You’d figure if Ricky Stenhouse is pushing you that’d be the time you’d sh*t your pants. No, it was not. I waited until the end.”
Corey LaJoie knows he’ll have a price to pay for his honesty, too. But when the listeners ask, you must answer.
Here’s to hoping the No. 7 driver doesn’t feel quite so ill the rest of the season.
“God I wonder how long that’s going to come back to bite me,” LaJoie said of his candor. “Forever probably.”
