Xavier Legette may have the most interesting palate in the NFL.

It wasn’t asparagus, or a box of German food, but his food choices continue to highlight his personality in his most recent post-practice interview. Ahead of Week 17, the Panthers wideout brought some raccoon meat with him to the facility and even shared some with his teammates and the media.

Naturally, the reporters had some questions for Legette over the interesting meat choice:

After some evaluation, a couple of reporters took some racoon meat from the rookie. Both videos are courtesy of Panthers beat writer, Sheena Quick. She later stated that she’d try it again if given the chance.

Legette revealed to the group of media members that the raccoon meat came from his Christmas Day meal, and brought some leftovers to eat after practice.

“Can I take a picture of that?” one reporter asked. Legette laughed at the question. Another reporter took a sniff of it after he pulled the container out.

Later, it was revealed that Panthers wide receiver David Moore tried some of the meat. He said it was spicy, but needed something extra. Perhaps putting it on a cracker or between a couple slices of wheat bread.

“It wasn’t on my list of first things to eat this morning. I tried [the racoon meat] because he was so ‘pressed about it,” Moore said. “He said, ‘The ‘coon is great, the ‘coon is good, the ‘coon is this. I don’t know, I had to try it.”

Legette, a noted picky eater, also revealed that he doesn’t eat anything “exotic.” That includes bell peppers and onions. He’s revealed in the past that he doesn’t like to eat many vegetables.

As fans continue to learn more about the former South Carolina star off the field, he has two more games this season to impress them on it. He’ll be in action for the Panthers on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
