The last game of the First Four on Wednesday will be the Big East vs. the SEC. That’s with Xavier and Texas playing for the final spot in the field in the NCAA Tournament.

Xavier (21-11) got in off the bubble to earn their second berth in three years under Sean Miller. That’s after the Musketeers, a team led by Zach Freemantle (17.3 points (52.6% FG), 7.1 rebounds), won their final seven in the regular season, before a two-point loss in the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament, to better position themselves over the final month. Now, they’ll be going an hour north for this game to try and extend their season into the actual bracket.

Texas (19-15), coached by Rodney Terry, was then the final team out of the record-setting amount of berths from the Southeastern Conference. That’s after the Longhorns won two games in doing enough in the SEC Tournament to get in the field. Tre Johnson, the SEC Freshman of the Year at 19.8 ppg., will now try to lead their corps of veterans in Arthur Kaluma, Tramon Mark, and Jordan Pope into the tournament.
