The attorneys of Xavier Worthy have released a second statement regarding the arrest of the Kansas City Chiefs WR. Worthy was arrested on Friday night on alleged assault charges.

His attorneys, Chip Lewis and Sam Bassett, said that they are aware of the situation and are working with law enforcement to ensure the “benefit of the totality of circumstances that led to this allegation.” The statement can be read in full below.

“The complaintant was asked multiple times over the last two weeks to vacate Mr. Worthy’s residence upon discovery of her infedelity, which a private investigator has video evidence of,” the updated statement red. “She has refused to vacate the residence and made a number of extortive efforts prior to resorting to this baseless allegation against Mr. Worthy. The complaintant further destroyed a room in the residence, scratched Mr. Worthy’s face and ripped out parts of his hair, which there is photographic evidence of.

“Mr. Worthy told law enforcement at the time of the incident he did not want to press charges against the complainant. We will continue to cooperate with Williamson Country authorities as we have full faith their thorough investigation will support Mr. Worthy’s innocence.”

This is a more thorough statement compared to the one released from Worthy’s attorneys earlier on Saturday. The statement follows the NFL’s, who released its brief statement of their own on Saturday morning.

“We are aware of the matter and have been in contact with the club,” the statement read, via NFL insider Tom Pelissero. The NFL did not comment further on the situation, and the Chiefs have not broken their silence as of this report.

The arrest occurred on Friday night in Georgetown, Texas. The charges include alleged assault against a family or household member by impeding their breathing and circulation, according to Williamson County jail records.

As of Saturday morning, there was no record of Worthy posting a bond. Georgetown, Tex., is located roughly half an hour north of Austin, which is the home of the Texas Longhorns and where he played three years of college football.

After leaving Texas, he became the first-round pick for the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2024 NFL Draft last year, Worthy recorded 59 receptions for 638 yards and six touchdowns during his rookie season. He was the highlight of the Chiefs’ offense during their 40-22 Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
