Xavier Worthy calls out Isaiah Bond over 40-yard dash: 'Respect those who come before you'

There was plenty of chatter out there once Texas receiver Isaiah Bond chirped that he was going to run a 4.1 in the 40-yard dash or possibly shatter the NFL Scouting Combine record, set by Xavier Worthy. That didn’t happen. Not even close. On his first attempt, Bond ran a 4.41 and on his second attempt he ran a 4.40. Shortly after he ran, former Texas star Xavier Worthy called him on his Instagram story.
“Respect those who come before you,” he posted.
More on Isaiah Bond and his 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine
As he got ready to run the 40-yard dash at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, former Texas standout Isaiah Bond made a bold prediction. He said he could top fellow former Longhorn Xavier Worthy’s record set at last year’s event.
Bond took the field at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday to showcase his speed. However, he came up short of Worthy’s top time last year.
His times put him behind Worthy, who set an NFL Combine record at 4.20 seconds a year ago before going to the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Bond was the second-fastest former Texas star to run the 40-yard dash on Saturday. Matthew Golden led the way from the first group of receivers to participate in the event, clocking in at 4.29. That put him in the Top 10 fastest 40-yard dash times ever for a wide receiver at the event.
Bond made headlines this week during his press conference when he predicted he’d get within 4.2 seconds on the 40-yard dash. He also had 4.1 seconds in his sights as he looked to beat out Worthy after his standout performance a year ago.
Isaiah Bond spent one year at Texas after transferring from Alabama. He shined as one of Quinn Ewers’ top targets, hauling in 34 catches for 540 yards and five touchdowns to help the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff semifinals.
