Kansas City Chiefs receiver Xavier Worthy and his ex-fiancée, Tia Jones, have dropped their legal cases against each other. TMZ reported Tuesday that Worthy is rescinding both his application for a protective order and the lawsuit he filed against Jones as part an agreement reached between the two.

Additionally, Jones will rescind her application for a protective order against Worthy. She had previously accused the Chiefs receiver of domestic violence on several occasions, including one that led to his arrest on March 7.

The charges against Worthy were dismissed the very next day. He later filed for his own protective order a short time after and made claims that Jones had become violent with him after he found out in February that she had cheated on him.

Worthy sued for $250,000 in damages after he alleged that Jones had destroyed his game room on the same day as his arrest, breaking his desk and PlayStation 5 in the process. He also claimed that she had scratched him and pulled out pieces of his hair.

But now both sides appear ready to move on. Worthy released a statement on the recent agreement reached between the two, expressing his regret for how things played out.

“I regret any misunderstandings or conflicts that arose during my relationship with my ex-fiancée,” Worthy said. “I also acknowledge that my legal representatives may have made public statements about my ex-fiancée that were intended to protect me, but were misstated.

“Ending a relationship that spanned over a year can be an emotional experience, and sometimes words are spoken out of hurt and frustration. This matter has now been settled.”

Xavier Worthy is coming off of his rookie season with the Chiefs, who took him with the 28th overall pick this past season out of Texas. He ended up finishing second on the team in receiving with 59 catches for 639 yards and a team-high six receiving touchdowns in addition to 104 yards rushing and three scores on the ground.

The Chiefs reached the Super Bowl this past season as they hoped to become the first team in history to win the game three years in a row. But ultimately they fell short, losing 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles. Worthy will hope to build upon his rookie year as the Chiefs chase another Super Bowl appearance next season.
