Zach Frazier injury update: Report reveals latest on Steelers center, timeline for return

Pittsburgh Steelers rookie center Zach Frazier suffered an ankle injury on Sunday, and his status has been revealed. Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Frazier is considered week-to-week since there’s no structural damage to his ankle.
Frazier left Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Raiders after a defender fell on his leg. Backup center Ryan McCollum replaced him after he went to the sideline tent, and it was reported that Frazier was in a walking boot after the game. Frazier was selected by the Steelers in the second round of this year’s draft after playing college football at West Virginia. He has started in all six of the Steelers’ games and posted an 82.2 Pro Football Focus grade.
After the game, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin discussed Frazier’s injury and said,: “It’ll be evaluated. There were some other guys that went out of the game but were able to return. Minkah (Fitzpatrick) was able to go back with his shoulder. Donte Jackson was able to go back with his shoulder, to name a few.”We’ll keep assessing those things. I’ll give you an update next time we come together on some of the medical things.”

Steelers explain what they like about Zach Frazier
Frazier is a big reason the Steelers are off to a 4-2 start. When the Steelers drafted him, they believed he could be an asset on the offensive line when it comes to protecting the quarterback.
“Zach’s played a lot of games at center,” offensive coordinator Arthur Smith said in August, per ESPN. “It’s not the NFL, but he did it in the Power 5. I think he’s a very mature guy. You’re asking your centers to do a lot, but I would say of any rookie, he’s probably the most prepped, and we thought that when we drafted him. Since he’s been in this building, he’s as advertised.”
