Smith was listed on the injury report with an ankle/knee injury, and did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. He was a limited participant Friday. With Dallas playing on Thanksgiving Day, both will sit with the hopes of being ready to play against the New York Giants (2-8). But for this game, the absence of Martin and Smith will be a problem.
Cowboys heavily shorthanded vs. Commanders
The good news? Cornerback DaRon Bland will make his season debut against Washington. Bland set an NFL record last season with five pick-sixes but sustained a stress fracture in his foot at the end of training camp.
Joining Bland as returning players to the lineup are offensive tackle Chuma Edoga and defensive Marshawn Kneeland.
Dallas is looking to snap a five-game losing streak.
