No matter what race, Talladega is unpredictable. Zane Smith was coming to his pit box when he slid around and made contact with his NASCAR crew member. It was a scary sight as the crew member almost flipped over the back end of the truck. However, he landed on his feet and tried to do his job the best he could.
It is never fun to see a car make contact with a person. Even at slow speeds, these incidents can be dangerous and cause a lot of harm. Zane Smith just lost control as he came to pit and it sent his truck around. A tough break for the defending Craftsman Truck Series champion.

Here is the incident in question. It looks as scary as it sounds.
For an unrelated incident, Zane Smith had to go to the garage and fell back in the field. His result today almost assures that he has to win at Homestead-Miami in order to make the championship. The NASCAR Playoffs are tough, even champions can get bit.
Charles Plank, the crew member, is doing alright. He gave a quick interview afterward.
He wasn’t the only playoff driver that had a tough day. Grant Enfinger was collected in a wreck later in the race. The Craftsman Truck Series Playoffs are getting wild at Talladega. It might be a sign of what’s to come on Sunday for the Cup Series.
