Long Beach Poly (Calif.) four-star cornerback Donte Wright has committed to Georgia, he told Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett on Monday. He becomes the second member of UGA’s 2027 recruiting class.

He chose the Bulldogs over offers from the likes of Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, Oklahoma and many more.

Wright is the No. 91 overall prospect and No. 12 corner in the 2027 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 10 junior in the Golden State.

The 6-foot, 170-pounder joins California pass-catcher Gavin Honore as commits in Georgia’s class to date. The Dawgs continue to build a pipeline out West and head coach Kirby Smart and his staff have now added two early pledges to the fold. Honore committed earlier this month on June 2.

Wright was in Athens this month for a camp. The blue-chipper has racked up offers throughout the spring and summer, but he’s now off the board before beginning his junior season.

Georgia’s 2026 class also features a Long Beach native in four-star safety Zech Fort. Playing his high school football at IMG Academy in Florida, Fort committed to UGA in January and is a top-150 prospect in the 2026 cycle.

UGA Recruiting ends June on fire

While the 2027 class is just getting started, Georgia has picked up some major steam with top 2026 prospects this month. A whopping 15 recruits have joined the fold in Athens in June. Earlier on Monday, Clemmons (N.C.) West Forsyth four-star defensive lineman PJ Dean, a top-100 prospect, chose UGA over South Carolina.

The nation’s No. 2 defensive lineman James Johnson, No. 7 cornerback Justice Fitzpatrick, the No. 6 offensive tackle Ekene Ogboko, the No. 9 running back Jae Lamar, No. 12 corner Caden Harris and the No. 12 linebacker Shadarius Toodle are among the others who’ve chose the red and black as of late.

The class now ranks No. 2 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and is in prime position to finish at No. 1 when it’s all said and done. Headlining the class is Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Jared Curtis, who chose the Bulldogs for a second time on May 5.

“Jared Curtis gives offensive coordinator Mike Bobo the most talented arm in the Bulldogs’ quarterback room in several years,” Rivals’ Charles Power previously wrote of Curtis, the nation’s No. 2 overall prospect. “The downfield arm talent and playmaking ability would provide the Georgia offense with a potential X-factor in big games. Kirby Smart and staff have worked to revamp the pass-game talent in Athens over the past year. Adding a five-star signal caller into the mix should go a long way in unlocking the talented pass-catchers on the Georgia roster.”
