Sacramento Archbishop Riordan four-star interior offensive lineman Tommy Tofi has decommitted from Cal, he announced on Monday via X.

The 6-foot-6.5, 340-pounder announced a surprise pledge to the Bears on June 3, but he’s now back on the board amidst a heavy push from Oregon.

Tofi is the No. 145 overall prospect and No. 8 IOL in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 17 player in California.

The Golden State trench monster was the top-ranked member of Cal’s recruiting class. There’s been plenty of buzz surrounding Tofi and Oregon this summer. He took an official visit to Eugene and Dan Lanning’s program hasn’t let up in their pursuit for the blue-chipper.

“The culture at Oregon is great. I like the staff a lot and I love the way coach Lanning is building the team and the program,” Tofi previously told Rivals’ Chad Simmons. “The way I hear other players talk about him, the staff and what they are doing is great too. Coach Lanning is a great coach and he always welcomes me and my family.”

“What I am looking for is the culture. That is huge for me. Coaching stability is a huge factor too. Those are two of the most important things for me,” he previously said about what will factor into his decision.

Cal loses top commit in 2026 class

With Tofi no longer in the fold, Cal now has 21 commits in its 2026 class — which now ranks No. 33 in the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. Just two blue-chip prospects are in the mix for head coach Justin Wilcox and Co.

Thomasville (Ga.) Thomas County Central four-star EDGE Cam Brooks is now at the top of the class. He committed on April 27 and ranks as the No. 300 recruit overall. Torrance (Calif.) Bishop Montgomery four-star running back Victor Santino is the top in-state recruit in the mix and ranks as the nation’s No. 27 RB.

Santino committed on June 1 and is now one of 15 additions to the class this month. Other top commits in the Cal class include: Arvada (Colo.) West three-star linebacker Jaxon Pyatt, Honolulu Kamehameha three-star tight end Taimane Purcell, Murrieta Valley (Calif.) three-star OT Elisha Faamatuainu, Corona (Calif.) Santa Margarita Catholic three-star cornerback Jayden Crowder and Concord (Calif.) De La Salle three-star defensive lineman Nemyah Telona.
