Like many other top prospects in the 2026 cycle, Hoschton, Ga. native and IMG Academy (Fla.) four-star linebacker DQ Forkpa has his sights set on a July commitment.

On Monday, the blue-chipper told Rivals’ Josh Newberg that he’ll announce his decision on July 12. He will choose between Florida, Florida State, Miami and Michigan.

Forkpa is the No. 346 overall prospect and No. 25 LB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 50 player in Florida.

“Really just the brotherhood, when I was there I was able to bond with the players really well,” Forkpa said about what made his four finalists stand out. “There’s a lot of great opportunities at those colleges.”

The finalists come as no surprise. Forkpa logged official visits to all four programs in June and has held each program in high regard down the stretch. Michigan will look to pull Forkpa out of the Sunshine State, while the big three in Florida try and wrangle the linebacker’s pledge in less than two weeks.

“The relationships, for sure,” Forkpa said when asked about the biggest factor in his decision. “I’m going to be spending the next three, four years at that college, so I want to be comfortable around the people in the building.”

Forkpa discusses four finalists

On Florida: “Really good coaching, coach (Billy) Napier, he’s a christian guy, that’s what I like a lot. Not to dig too much into the religious side, but I just like his values and his morals. Also, the brotherhood that was there when I was, I was just able to be myself and just bond. The people in the Gators building, I love all of them.”

On Miami: “Coach (Corey) Hetherman, his defensive mind is just crazy. Every time I’m there I try to pick his brain and take something back so I can use it in my game. They have great people there, too. Coach (Mario) Cristobal, love talking to him.”

On Florida State: “Ever since they started recruiting me last year in like July, I was able to build a very strong connection with coach (Mike) Norvell and the whole staff — unfortunately they aren’t there anymore. That new staff got hired, I was like the first person they reached out to, that just goes to show their loyalty throughout the whole process.”

On Michigan: “They have a very strong alumni base and stuff after football, because some day after football, you’re not gonna have it, so you have to fall back on something. Michigan, they do a really good job telling you what they offer you after football.”
