Georgia lands a commitment from Swedish 4-star DL Valdin Sone: 'I am going to play on the biggest stage'

Georgia was always consistent, then they came on strong early in the summer in this recruitment. After visiting Auburn officially, Valdin Sone made his way to Athens early in June for an unofficial visit. He spent time with the coaches and continued to ascend up Kirby Smart‘s board.
After official visits to Nebraska and Florida, the 6-foot-3.5, 320-pound four-star took his official visit to Georgia on June 20. The Tigers, Gators and Huskers battled, but the Bulldogs have landed a commitment from the No. 130 prospect in the Rivals Industry Ranking.
“I chose Georgia because of development, coaching, relationships and the hard work they put in,” Sone told Rivals.
Georgia received the last visit and he knew on that visit that he wanted to be a Bulldog.
“I kind of knew before the visit, but I wanted to take the official visit first. On the second day of the official visit, I knew it. I had been there five or six times, I felt good around the people and the program and I felt the vibe on that visit and knew Georgia was home.”
Tray Scott led the way. He has quite the resume and has developed player after player in Athens. He and coach Smart were factors in this decision.
“Coach Scott is an incredible coach. He is all about development and getting players to the league. How he coaches played a big role in my decision. When you talk coach Scott and Georgia, you talk development, so I am ready to make that move and go to work for the coaches.
“Coach Smart is a lot like coach Scott. He is incredible. He is a defensive-minded coach, he is very genuine and he wants the best for me and his players. I love how he trusts coach Scott and his coaches too.”

Georgia has what Sone is looking for
A lot of boxes had to be checked, each visit needed to be taken and Sone made sure he didn’t rush his decision, but in the end, his decision was clear.
“Georgia is not for everyone because of the work ethic, because of the competition, but that is what a dawg does and that is what I want to be a part of,” Sone said. “Georgia is next to perfect for me. Iron sharpens iron and you have to work to play at Georgia.
“I am going to play on the biggest stage, I will play in the SEC, I will play for coach Smart, the best coach in college football, I will play in a defense that always dominates and I will have a chance to go to the NFL by going to Georgia.”
Sone played one year of football in the United States at Blue Ridge School in Dyke (Va.) as a junior. He has played football in Sweden since the age of 11. The new Georgia commit is planning to enroll in Athens in January.
